About this journey

The helicopter Yatra completes all four Dhams in five days rather than ten, and for a particular kind of traveller it is transformative: older parents who cannot manage sixteen kilometres of ascent, guests with limited leave, and anyone for whom several hundred kilometres of mountain road is the obstacle rather than the pilgrimage itself. You fly the sectors that would otherwise be full days of driving, and you land within reach of each shrine.

The circuit follows the traditional clockwise order — Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath, Badrinath — flying from Dehradun's Sahastradhara helipad. At Yamunotri you land at Kharsali and complete the short final approach by pony or palki; Gangotri is a helipad and a walk to the temple; Kedarnath lands you close to the shrine, removing the entire sixteen-kilometre trek; and Badrinath, which was always road-accessible, is reached from the Badrinath helipad in minutes. VIP darshan arrangements are made at each Dham so that the time saved in the air is not lost again in a queue.

What every honest operator has to say plainly is that this is a weather-dependent trip. Himalayan flying windows are narrow, usually early morning, and monsoon cloud, wind or poor visibility can delay or cancel a sector at short notice. We build buffer into the schedule, keep a road-based contingency ready for each leg, and brief you fully on the cancellation and refund terms of the aviation operator before anything is confirmed. Anyone who tells you the weather is not a factor is not being straight with you.

Bookings open when the aviation operators release the season's slots and the good dates go quickly, so early enquiry matters far more here than on any road-based package. Baggage allowances are strict, typically around five kilograms per person, and we send the full list of restrictions and medical advisories well in advance. Ground transfers, hotel stays at the overnight stops and all darshan coordination are included and run by our own team, so there is a single point of contact for the whole journey.
